How Fido Finder Works
Your dog is lost
You can search the Found Dogs listings for your dog based on his characteristics (Breed, Color, etc) as well as in your Postal Code area. If you find your dog in the listings you can use the form on his listing to send a message to the person who found your dog. If you do not find your dog in the listings you can register your lost dog so that he shows up in the Lost Dogs listings so that you may be contacted.
You found a dog
You can search the Lost Dogs listings for the dog you found based on his characteristics (Breed, Color, etc.) as well as the Postal Code he was found in. If you find the dog in the listings you can use the form on his listing to send a message to the dog's owner. If you do not find the dog in the listings you can register the dog so that he shows up in the Found Dog listings, and so that you can receive email updates when similar lost dogs are added to the website.
You have a safe dog
You can pre-register your safe dog to aid in his return should he ever get lost. In a time of panic you may not think to register your dog as lost right away on Fido Finder, or you simply may not realize that your dog has gotten out of your yard while you were at work. Registering your safe dogs has two benefits. First of all, you can then order a Fido Finder dog tag that will link to the website and give a person another method of contacting you if they find your dog. And secondly your dog's "safe" listing will appear at the bottom of the matches shown to finders when they register a found dog in your area. Your listing will be marked as "presumably safe" so that finders only contact you if they have a hunch that they found the dog that you thought was safe - or simply hadn't marked as "lost."
Fido Finder allows owners of lost dogs to post the value of their reward for the return of their dog on their lost dog listing. Fido Finder does not guarantee this reward and does not facilitate the payment of the reward.
