How This Site Works

Why Register?
Fido Finder By registering with Fido Finder, you will be registering your dog's vital information, such as name, breed, gender, color, and postal code. If your dog is ever lost, the person who has found your dog will be able to locate you based on the postal code in which the dog was found. Don't worry. Fido Finder takes into consideration surrounding postal codes when notifying dog owners that a possible match [ view all possible matches ] was just added to Fido Finder. Fido Finder runs advertisements on the major search engines including Google, Yahoo, AOL, Ask, Altavista, Excite, Lycos, Hot Bot, Web Crawler, Netscape, Search.com and more for any users looking for "lost dogs". Fido Finder does not use the information gathered during registration for any purpose other than helping Lost Dogs find their homes. For more information, read our Privacy Policy. Read below for an example of how the web site helps to find lost dogs.

A Registered Dog is Lost
1. A dog registered with Fido Finder escapes through a hole in the back fence.
2. A few blocks away, a kind family brings the dog into their home because they realize he's lost.
3. The caring family does not recognize the dog and does not know to whom he belongs; he doesn't seem to be wearing a dog tag.
4. The family is smart and visits FidoFinder.com to see if they can locate the owner of the dog.
5. The family submits a lost dog search for Boxer, Brown / White, in the postal code 77065.
6. The family quickly learns that there are 3 registered Boxers in their area: Sandy, Digger, and Bruno. The lost dog is a male, and seems to react when the family says his name, Bruno!
7. The family uses Fido Finder to contact all three Boxer owners in the area just to make sure they find the right owner of the lost Boxer.
8. The family enters their name, email, and phone number into Fido Finder and Fido Finder takes care of contacting the registered owners.
9. An hour later, the phone rings and the worried owner of Bruno is asking about his lost dog.
10. Bruno's owner arrives at the family's residence 5 minutes later to bring his beloved companion home.

Adding a Lost Dog / Adding a Found Dog
Fido Finder Adding your Lost Dog to Fido Finder allows others to find that you are the owner of the lost dog they have found. The idea is simple, but we took it a step further to make sure that owners and "Finders" can find each other. If your dog is posted as a Lost Dog, all "Finders" who have posted a Found Dog matching your dog's breed and area will be notified of the new Lost Dog. Also, anyone posting a Found Dog that matches your Lost Dog's details will be notified that there are already Lost Dogs matching the description of the dog he found. Read the scenario below for more information.

An Unregistered Dog is Lost
1. A dog, Porter, who is not registered with Fido Finder escapes through an open gate in the back yard.
2. It doesn't take long before the owner realizes that his dog is missing.
3. Although his Jack Russell has short legs, the owner knows that his curious dog could be long gone by now.
4. The owner spends hours looking for his beloved pet but returns home broken hearted.
5. The quick-thinking owner posts his dog as "Lost" on Fido Finder.
6. Simply entering the dog's name, breed, size, and postal code allows the world to know that Porter is missing.
7. About the same time, a kind family has picked up Porter while he wandered the streets about a mile away from home. Porter was having the time of his life while his owner was worried sick.
8. The family decides to take the dog home and look for the owner. The smart family uses Fido Finder to post a "Found Dog" listing. Upon submitting his description, they are informed that a Lost Dog named Porter is lost in their area. Sure enough, the dog they found has a collar that says "Porter."
9. The family uses Fido Finder to contact the worried owner.
10. The owner calls the caring family and arranges to pick up his curious traveler.
