Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is this website free to use?

Registering lost / found / safe dogs is 100% free. We do have optional upgrades for lost dog listings as well as Fido Finder dog tags that we sell, but the basic functionality of the site is free and always has been.

2. "My dog was found, how do I remove my listing?"

You need to change your dog's status to "Safe." Sign in using the "Sign In" link at the top of the website. If you only have one registered dog you will be taken directly to his edit profile page, if not choose the dog you want to edit. Change the status dropdown menu to "Safe", and click "Save."

3. "I returned the dog I found to his owner, how do I remove his listing?"

To remove a Found Dog first sign in using the "Sign In" link at the top of the website, then view the dog's edit profile page and click the "Delete" button to delete the dog's listing. If this is the only dog you have registered and you no longer need your account, you can easily delete your entire account by clicking here.

4. "How do I delete my account?"

To completely remove your account use the "Delete Your Account" link on the Sign In page. Or, just click here.

5. "The registration form is asking me for a password, how do I get a password?"

If you are a new user the password box is for you to create your own password which will be associated with your email address. Returning users can use this box to sign in with their existing password at the same time as registering a new dog.

6. "How do I add an image / phone number / reward amount to my listing?"

To add an image, phone number, or reward amount to your listing sign in and view your dog's edit profile page. Click the "Upgrade Listing" link. Follow the instructions from there.

7. "I listed my dog on your site but he is not showing up under the Lost Dogs listings. Why not?"

Either you registered your dog but did not use the Lost Dog registration form, and his status is therefore set to "Safe at Home", or your listing has been on the site longer than the 7 days allowed for a free listing. To change your dog's status to "Lost" first sign in, then view your dog's edit profile page and change his status to "Lost", and click "Save". To extend the time your dog's listing shows on the site you can either click the "relist" link or add an upgrade to your listing. Adding an upgrade will give you extended time on the site without having to worry about renewing the listing. To add an upgrade see FAQ #6.

8. "How do I request a refund for upgrades?"

If your dog has been listed with optional upgrades for over 21 days, and he was not found via Fido Finder, you may request a refund for those upgrades. You have a 7-day window after the 21 days has passed to request the refund. We do not deny any requests, but you do have to click the request refund link in order for the refund to be processed. To request the refund, sign in to the site, view your dog's edit profile page and choose "Upgrade Listing". If you are in the 7-day window you will see a list of your transactions with a link to "request refund." Email requests for refunds will not be honored, you must use the automated process.
